This long crescent beach is interspersed with rocky area and sandy beaches. There are areas perfect for swimming and other areas with great snorkeling potential.

The unusual combination of black lava and white, dead coral rocks brings out the artist in almost everyone. To the right is a rendition of a local fisherman!

The area is rarely crowded. The scenery is varied with coves and rocky points to explore. The ocean is often calm.

Direction and Maps

Take Highway 19 north from Kona. Take the Jeep road to the left between Mile Markers #89 and 88. The first portion of the road is decent but then becomes very rutted. Take the first dirt road to the left and follow to the beach. If the gate is locked, the hike is about 15 minutes.
